6 THINGS TO KNOW FOR THE UPCOMING HEALTH INSURANCE OPEN ENROLLMENT

1.  WHEN IS THE OPEN ENROLLMENT?

The Open Enrollment period for 2015 coverage starts on November 15, 2014 and goes through February 15, 2015.  If you do not purchase health coverage for 2015 during this period, health coverage cannot be purchased again until the next open enrollment period the following year. If you do not purchase a plan during this period, you can only purchase coverage with a qualifying life event, such as being removed from an employer plan or moving to a new state.

2.  WHERE DO I GO TO SEARCH FOR A PLAN?

The federal government has set up a website, known as the health exchange, where individuals can shop for and purchase health plans. However, what most people do not know is that they can purchase the same plans through licensed agents for the same price. That way, you won’t have to spend hours on the telephone with a government enrollment agent with limited understanding of the policies they are offering.

Here at Frank E Neal & Co., Inc., we recently upgraded our website and now offer you the ability to not only get real life, actual health insurance quotes, but you can even apply for and purchase your health plan directly through our site! See how quick and easy it is to get health insurance with the click of a button.

3.  DO I QUALIFY FOR ASSISTANCE OR PREMIUM REDUCTIONS?

With the implementation of the new health care law, the Affordable Care Act, certain individuals and families qualify for federal assistance for their health insurance premiums based upon their household income. If you think that you might qualify for assistance, you can review the guidelines from the healthcare.gov website here.

4.  WHAT COMPANIES OFFER HEALTH INSURANCE?

There are several health insurance companies. Below are the companies that we represent. In Tennessee, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is the predominant carrier with over 60% of the market in Tennessee according to the most recent health insurance market report by the Tennessee Department of Insurance (report).

5.  WHY USE AN AGENT OVER THE HEALTHCARE.GOV SITE?

We certainly know that most people do not want to be “sold” to and that purchasing through a site reduces some of that pressure. But what happens if you have a question or need someone’s help making sure that you are actually signed up? Likely, you’ll spend hours on hold trying to get your issues resolved. With our all new health insurance platform, you can quote and purchase a plan directly through our site AND have the piece of mind to know that you can call one of our awesome, local, agents to discuss your plan and make sure that it is really the right one for you!

6.  RECENTLY LOST COVERAGE? ENROLL NOW!
